Health and Wellness Resources at UBC
Gyms
UBC students have access to some of the best gyms in the city, with state-of-the-art equipment and facilities. There are two main UBC gyms and both are on-campus. The Activities and Recreation Center (ARC) is in the Life Building, which has a weight and cardio room. The other gym is called Birdcoop and is located in the Student Recreation Centre. Birdcoop is relatively smaller but is equipped with top-notch machines and equipment. Both of these facilities also provide a variety of fitness classes such as pilates, yoga, and kickboxing. There are also several private gyms in the Vancouver area which offer discounts to UBC students. Regardless of their budget or fitness level, UBC students have plenty of options when it comes to finding a gym that meets their needs.
Aquatic Centre
UBC Aquatic Centre is a state-of-the-art facility that offers a wide range of health and wellness services to the UBC community. The Centre’s amenities include a 25-meter lap pool, a leisure pool with a water slide, a hot tub, a sauna, and a steam room. The Centre also offers a variety of fitness classes, including aqua aerobics, yoga, and Pilates. In addition, the Centre has a staff of certified personal trainers who can help clients achieve their fitness goals. Whether you’re looking to stay in shape or relieve stress, UBC Aquatic Centre has something to offer everyone.
The UBC Nest
The Nest at UBC is the Student Union Building. It offers a variety of health and wellness services to support students. The Nest is a one-stop shop for health and wellness, offering services such as counselling, medical care, nutrition advice, and more. The nest also offers exercise classes, dance classes, and personal trainers. There are also many student-run clubs and organizations that focus on health and wellness, such as the Yoga Club and the UBC Healthy Minds Initiative.
