UBC AMS: Overview

The UBC Alma Mater Society (AMS) is one of the largest and oldest student societies in Canada. It represents over 50,000 undergraduate students at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. The AMS provides a wide range of services and programs to students, including health and dental plans, a food bank, legal services, and over 200 clubs. In addition, the AMS runs UBC’s Student Union Building (SUB), which houses a number of businesses and services, including a bookstore, a pub, and a movie theatre. The AMS also publishes The Ubyssey, UBC’s student newspaper. The AMS is run by a team of elected student leaders, who are responsible for representing the interests of UBC students to the university administration and the wider community.
