Simon Fraser University is a comprehensive research university located in Burnaby, British Columbia. SFU was founded in 1965 and is named after Simon Fraser, an explorer who chartered much of what is now British Columbia. SFU admissions are highly competitive, with an undergraduate acceptance rate of approximately 44 percent. SFU has nine faculties and provides undergraduate, graduate, and continuing education programs to over 35,000 students. SFU’s main campus occupies 135 acres on top of Burnaby Mountain and overlooks Burrard Inlet. SFU also has campuses in Downtown Vancouver and Surrey.
