SFU strives to provide its students with the best possible educational experience. In order to do this, they have several important dates that students need to be aware of. Some of these include registration deadlines, application deadlines, orientation dates, and start and end dates for classes. Students need to be aware of these important dates to plan their schedules accordingly and make the most of their time at SFU.

Important Dates for SFU First-Year Students

Monday, July 4

Enrollment for Fall 2022 classes begin – By appointment only. 

Monday, July 4 to Friday, July 22

Work-study application period.

Monday, July 25

Enrollment for Fall 2022 classes – Open to all students at 8 AM. 

Monday, August 1

Deadline to pay fall Residence fees.

Monday, August 29 to Friday, September 16

Bursary only application period.

Monday, August 29 to Friday, September 16

Undergraduate scholarships and awards application period.

Wednesday, September 7

Fall term classes start. 

Tuesday, September 13

Last day to add classes, swap classes, and change tutorials.

Last day to enroll or change to audit by the department offering the course.

Tuesday, September 13 by 4:30pm

 Deadline for submitting an application for exemption for U-Pass BC  

Tuesday, September 20

Last day to enroll for class challenge or switch your challenge from one class to another or regular enrollment in a class, with permission of the department.

Tuesday, September 20

Deadline to pay tuition and student fees. A 2% monthly interest charge will be assessed after the due date and on the first of each month thereafter.

Tuesday, September 27

Last day to add classes through the department, with permission of the chair and instructor.

Last day to change tutorials through the department.

Friday, October 21 

Deadline to pay Co-op Practicum fees.
