How To Get Admitted To The University of Calgary

The University of Calgary is known as one of the top ten universities in Canada! With excellent programs and a location in the most liveable city in North America, it’s a dream school for many students. Here at GrantMe, we’ve helped many students apply to and get into UCalgary. Here’s our top advice on the University of Calgary admissions process.

Program Requirements

Your first step is to check out the University of Calgary admissions requirements for the programs that interest you! Most UCalgary programs require you to have completed a few specific high school courses. They also require you to achieve a minimum grade point average (GPA). This minimum GPA is typically around 80% to 90%.

However, if you find that you don’t quite meet the minimum grades, the University of Calgary admissions process also offers Diverse Qualifications admissions! If you can show your qualification for UCalgary in other ways than academics (such as athletics, community service, overcoming adversity, or more), you may still be offered admission.

General Application

Once you check the program requirements and ensure that you’re eligible, it’s time to apply!

To apply for most programs at the University of Calgary, all you need to do is fill out some basic information about yourself and your prior schooling. You will then need to upload your transcripts to verify your grades.

You can do all of this through Apply Alberta! This one platform allows you to apply to any university in Alberta, making it easy to apply to multiple universities at once. Check out UCalgary’s tutorial on how to apply

Supplementary Application

A select few programs at the University of Calgary require you to submit an extra application called a supplementary application. This application may include a resume and even an essay.

Try to demonstrate what makes you an excellent fit for UCalgary in your supplementary application.

Make sure to highlight what you will contribute to the university. How will you use your previous volunteer experience to make an impact on campus? What experiences or skills will you contribute to academics? How will you promote student engagement?
