Queen’s University offers a wide variety of opportunities for students to study abroad. Through international exchanges, students can immerse themselves in a new culture while still earning credits towards their degree. Queen’s has exchange agreements with partner institutions around the world, and students can choose to study for a semester or an entire year. While abroad, students will take courses that are equivalent to those at Queen’s, and they may also have the opportunity to participate in internships or volunteer programs. Exchange at Queen’s
The international exchange program is a great way for students to broaden their horizons and get a taste of life in another country. More than 100 universities in more than 30 countries have host agreements with Queen’s Faculty of Arts and Science. Depending on the curriculum, you apply to a program and list one to six schools where you would like to attend classes. Based on your application, Queen’s IPO assigns spots and suggests students to a host university. The last step in the application process is for students to submit their applications to the host university.
The exchange program itself is competitive, and each host university only has a certain amount of spaces available. Depending on the arrangement, the amount of time spent abroad can range from a semester to a whole year.
While you are on exchange you pay Queen’s tuition but register as a visiting student with the host university. You remain registered at Queen’s while on exchange. At the end of your exchange, you bring credits back to your Queen’s degree. It does not add extra time to your studies.
